ARTICLE - Free Instant Credit Reports

Over the last hundred or so years credit has skyrocketed to be the number one purchasing choice that most of the world uses. Almost half the population carries little to no cash anymore due to the fact that they have little plastic cards in their wallets that grant them free access to purchasing power whenever and wherever they needed. Unfortunately, this has come with some risks that many people don’t know about. For example, while using your credit card a lot can be good for your credit getting a hundred credit cards and only using two or three of them on a regular basis will most definitely hurt that credit. Why? Because how many credit cards and credit lines you take out often has an adverse effect on your credit report if it means that you can live above your means.

This is why it is important to get free instant credit reports on a regular basis. There is no reason nowadays that any American should be without one considering the ways we throw that plastic around. Once it is in your hands (or on your screen if you are looking at it through an online service such as a government based site where you can see in plain English what you are doing right that is helping your credit and what you are doing wrong that is hurting it. Unfortunately it is much easier to have bad credit than good credit, but that can be easily changed within a few months by developing good credit habits and paying off past debts at more than the minimum rate. Overall, the methods for increasing credit are mostly easy with a little bit of patience.

Unfortunately for most young people, they do not understand the power of a credit a score. Most people get their first credit cards in college and, as a result, usually go on a spending spree due to the draw of the credit card in that they don’t have to pay it off for a while. In most cases, this leads to students leaving college with even more debt to pay off and, sadly, ruined credit scores. If you or someone you know is one of these people, you should encourage them to contact the government and get free instant credit reports so that they may monitor their current credit and try and fix any past mistakes. After all, these days credit is the lifeline of most Americans.
